very helpful staff, clean and attractive

it's clean and easy place you can find it.information board already have english/romanji language/character.the staff very friendly and warmness.if you difficult to get direction just go to the staff and they will answer with easy undertsanding.in some case,i lost my daily card train in front of station.and fortunately the staff found it and call my company to give information that they found my card.and i still not believe and understand how they can found my company and phone them to give information.except they have good system.because i'm foreigner and all data possibility already syncronize between the system.my sugesstion for improvement are:1. better you use "tap" card so possibility too lose is smaller,because you can keep it togheter with id card2. lost and found should be open more longer,current open from 9-6 and for me that going home at 6.08 never get itbut overall it's good station

Matsumoto Station (松本駅 Matsumoto-eki) is a train station in the city of Matsumoto, Nagano Prefecture, Japan, operated by East Japan Railway Company (JR East), and the private railway operator Alpico Kōtsū.Matsumoto Station is served by the Shinonoi Lineand is 13.3 kilometers from the terminus of the line at Shiojiri Station. It is also a terminal station for theŌito Line. Chūō Main Line trains using the Shinonoi Line tracks also pass through Matsumoto. Matsumoto is also a terminus for the 14.4 kilometer private Kamikōchi Line operated by Alpico Kōtsū.

The Chushin base where Shinonoi Line, Oito Line, Alpico Transportation Kamikochi Line, as well as the Chuo Main Line on the system ride. There is a 4-track, 8-track home track, and the used track is not fixed except that the express train bound for Nagoya is No. 1 and Alpico Kotsu departs only No. 7.

Nice experience here

This is a main station of Matsumoto. Clean, medium size and not complicated. There are many signs that show timetables and tracks so you will never get lost in this station. Luggage storage is also available here. Staffs are very helpful. Many shops and restaurants are in and round the station.

Buying a ticket from Nagoya to Kiso Fukushima, or from Kiso Fukushima to Matsumoto was 100 yen cheaper than buying through Nagoya to Matsumoto.

Good station, have english broadcast too. Make it easy for tourist

It is the second largest city in Nagano and is blessed with tourism resources, and I feel that there are more passengers than the number of trains. The station is also compact, but you can procure souvenirs at the Midori building and the New Days next to the ticket gate.In summer, it is very easy to spend because it is hot at daytime but cool at night.It is a busy street right from the Alps entrance, so you can spend it efficiently if you stay at a hotel near the station.Coin parking is less crowded around the west exit and is cheaper.

The station is new and the scenery is good. Easy access to Kamikochi and the Northern Alps.

Nice station with main street

After modernization and renovation, it became an easy-to-use station. There are many shops outside the ticket gate. The waiting room is also wide, and there are plenty of station lunch boxes and station soba shops.

I usually feel a little anxious when I work in Tokyo or Yokohama because there is no place name I know in the route map. I felt this feeling when I went to Kumamoto when I was in Oita. I wonder if this is the central feeling in the castle town?

There are bus routes from the station square to each direction.Most buses leave and arrive at Alpico Plaza (formerly Ario) Matsumoto Bus Terminal.The Iriyamabe Line, Nakayama Line, and Hosomi Line of the community bus depart from the bus terminal north of the station square.Please note that day trips are not available on all Iriyamabe and Nakayama lines.From the castle entrance (east exit), there are Matsumoto tour buses and bus routes to Arigasaki and Shindai Hospital and Asama Onsen.Matsumoto tour bus west course and Nanbu circulation line depart from the Alps mouth (west exit).Although it is called the castle entrance, the important castle entrance is in the northeast and it takes 20 minutes on foot. The next Kitamatsumoto station is near.

It is refreshing as a local city station. The conductor is easy to understand. There are many tenants and there are customers who are not traveling. It is good that the roundabout in front of the station is refreshing.

Central station, clean, big ..

In the time I was travelling around Japan: this station has to be the most incompetent and disapointing place I have stopped off at. The idiot behind the counter issued me a limited express ticket to nagano and directed me to the wrong platform. Thanks to him, I now have to take a local train from the wrong station: which will take me longer to get there. In addition to that, on my journey from Kawaguchiko to Nagano, this station was particulary troublesome when going to the wrong platform with the wrong train. BE VERY CAUTIOUS of this station when traveling - I promise you, they will screw you over one way or the other. If I could give a zero star rating, I would. This place does not deserve by the least one star.

Very convenient station, staying next to the hotel, so come here to visit, by the way, stored value suica.

Like most stations, clean, well lit and food options. I liked this one because it's a lot less hectic compared to the big cities. Helpful staff.

Good station

I used it occasionally. I haven't heard from you recently.Almost the first station of limited express Azusa. And the limited express Shinano stop.At each stop, the Shinonoi line stops and the Oito line departs.There are only souvenirs at the concourse inside the ticket gate, but there is a full lineup.I'm having a hard time getting out of the east exit and entering the "Ogiso Soba Store" on the right.

It is the entrance station of Shinshu Matsumoto, the knee of Matsumoto Castle, a national treasure. You can buy Shinshu souvenirs at NEWDAYS, just a bit away from the ticket gate!

Although the station is not large, an important hub in the central region, the Matsumoto Electric Railway to Kamikochi Highland Line, the Oito Line to Tateyama, Kurobe, and the Chuo Main Line to Suwa Lake, sightseeing can be used as a starting point, living near the station A place with good performance and very comfortable

There are shops near the station on platforms 0 and 7. Both are delicious. It is the second largest city in Nagano prefecture, with the Matsumoto Electric Railway Kamikochi Line, Oito Line, Shinonoi Line, etc.

I particularly like this station because of the dining options available in the station complex and right outside.

Fairly small and self explanatory station with most boards having an English as well as Japanese option - one caveat, if you plan to purchase tickets immediately prior to your departure from the ticket office, you should arrive early as there will probably be a lineup.

After 21 o'clock, people are gone. The private store is closed and you can leave it at the hotel ...

grab quick lunch before boarding trains as they may not have food for sale

Matsumoto Station leaves the station and walks downstairs. There are lockers. If you want to go to Matsumoto Castle, you can temporarily lock it. You can also go to the Matsumoto Museum of Art to walk around.

Small and convenient. Many restaurants inside and around. Directly connected to the city center.

Nothing special about it, but organized as Japanese train stations are!

Please note that google maps only recognizes the Alps exit, which means that Maps makes you go all around the station. In reality you can exit via the Castle Exit (of course!) if you're off to see the castle or most of the hotels in town.
